The results are in for the 2026 Morecambe Masters competition. This competitive league is scheduled over June, July and August, where archers of 65+ from around the country shoot at different distances and target sizes, within their selected bow style category. This year Bridlington Bay Archer Tom Connelly, chose to keep things traditional and opted to compete using a one-piece, all wood flatbow... and took first place.
The September beginners course is now in it's second week, and having been introduced to shooting at a target boss they are shown here having a taste of shooting at a clout flag - overseen by coaches David Reaney and Rickie Robson.
Bridlington Bay Archers travelled to the York clout competition organised by Northern Counties Archery Society, on September 6th. This weekend clout competition attracted a strong field but the club’s seniors and juniors did well despite windy conditions, to take a few medals.
Saturday marked an exciting milestone for Bridlington Bay Archers as the club welcomed visitors to explore and enjoy its new practice ground, set within acres of peaceful, tree‑lined grassland behind Hilderthorpe School. The location offers a convenient and attractive base for the club’s experienced archers, enthusiastic juniors, and anyone in the community who’s curious about trying this engaging and rewarding sport.

Dave Duffill is a man of many talents, and he's adding another one to his resume. Dave only joined the club earlier this year but has just achieved his '252' badge at 30 yards. To do this you have to score over 252 points on a 30 yard target - on 3 separate occasions within the year - next stop 252 at 40 yards!Here's Dave with his badge.
Shooting in the barebow category: Amber gained her 1st class blue badge by completing a Warwick round of 2 dozen arrows at 30 yards, followed by 2dozen arrows at 20 yards.Also shooting in the barebow category: Hugo attained the 1st class Clout Shooting badge, at 75 metres.
Even though they spend most of their time coaching and organising club events David and Carole Reaney still manage to attain shooting standards. Here they are with this seasons' 3rd class bowman badges.

Archers from Bridlington Bay Archers travelled to Burton Constable to shoot in the summer East Riding open competition - organised by Burton Constable Company of Bowmen. The team was composed of Olivia White, Robyn Holland, Hugo Robson (all juniors) and Rickie Robson (senior).The results were: Olivia shot a Windsor 50 and made a score of 643, so came 1st in the U16 recurve girls section.Robyn shot a Windsor 30 and made a score of 612, coming 1st in the U12 barebow girls section and was barebow girls winner overall.Hugo shot a Windsor 40 and got a score of 591, and was 1st in the U14 barebow boys category. He also won the best gold prize.Rickie shot an American round and got a score of 716, coming 3rd in the recurve Men's section.
Over the past few weeks man and wife team Susan and Roger Bennett have both earned the 3rd Class Bowman badges.The Bowman 3rd Class is one of Archery GB’s recognised outdoor shooting standards. It marks the point where an archer moves beyond basic classifications and begins performing at a level for higher club‑level competition. It’s the first step into the “Bowman” tier, of 1st/2nd/3rd Class levels.Roger and Susan are pictured here at the Bridlington Bay Archers shooting ground.
A selection of archery badges were awarded on Sunday. Rickie Robson, Hugo Robson and Robyn Harland received the 3rd class bowman badge. Rickie shooting Recurve, Hugo and Robyn shooting Barebow. Sarah Robson and Hugo Robson received the 2nd class clout badge. Sarah shooting at 125 metres Hugo 75 metres both in the Barebow category. Rickie Robson received the 1st class clout badge shooting Barebow at 165 metres.
